Unleash the Suppressed is a project exploring and visualising emotions through self-portraits. Wingrove uses the body and it’s movement as a way to show emotion, using it as a universal language to connect and communicate with others. She found herself feeling strong emotions at the start of the 2025, so decided to unleash those suppressed feelings by photographing self-portraits. Wingrove uses colours to evoke her mood at the time, which may lead the viewer to a certain feeling. This on-going project aims to be playful, whilst also challenging the stigma of women’s expectations to ‘act’ and ‘be’ a certain way.
